Champ the Train at the Central Florida Zoo
Champ the Train has been a favorite component of a Zoo visit for many years and the Zoo has now completed the final phase of the Little Florida Coast Line Historical Train Education Project. The train, built in 1951, is a 1/5-scale replica of the famous Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Champion. The ride will take guests through a natural Florida environment as they learn about Florida’s history.
The current graphics are now enhanced with an audio narrative by Rae Rae, the red panda from the hit show The Enviropals! Prior to boarding the train, Rae Rae will also greet guests in an educational video about the train ride. As the train passes through the tunnel, riders will be immersed into the past as they view an artistic rendering of Florida past to present. 
The mural was created by members of the Sanford Seminole Art Association. The Little Florida Coast Line Historical Train Education Project would not have been possible without the support of our partnership with The Enviropals!, Lake Shore Software & Engineering, Inc. and especially the Chesley G. Magruder Foundation who provided funding for the development and implementation of the project.

The Segway Experience

Well, humanity has finaly done it. Walking is obsolete.
I remember about ten years ago. I was at UCF doing my college radio show when my co host ran into the studio and asked, “Have you heard about IT?” The big announcment about IT was coming soon. IT turned out to be the Segway. It was going to revolutionize the way humans travel. Some called it bigger than the internet. Others said it is to the car what the car was to the horse and buggy. It didn’t quite live up to the lofty hype, but the Segway has found it’s way into practical applications from law enforcment to Disney employees. As well as city dwellers and recreational use. Now, Segway is setting up franchises that offer tours. One such tour is located at the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford, FL, a short drive north of Orlando, and Eye on Orlando got the chance to check it out.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect before I stepped onto my first Segway. As Josh Shields, Manager at the Segway Experience and our tour guide for the day put it, your eyes see this stick with 2 wheels and your brain automatically think it needs to balance itself. Segway Inc. recently opened one of its new Segway PT tour operations at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford, Florida.
